About Us

HI-Q Environmental Products Company (HI-Q) has been a leading manufacturer of high quality Air Sampling Equipment, Systems, & Accessories since 1973.  HI-Q started primarily as a manufacturer of activated carbon cartridges and high/low volume air sampling pumps intended to be used as “Record Samplers” in the collection of radioiodine and radioactive dust particulate.  Over the past 47 years, HI-Q’s product line evolved into a complete list of air monitoring productsair sampling services and accessories for ambient air and stack sampling applications.

One of HI-Q’s major stepping stones, over 30 years ago, was the introduction of the maintenance free, brushless motor blower to its line of outdoor high volume Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) air samplers.  HI-Q’s introduction of the brushless motor blower, along with many other advantages, eliminated the monthly routine for technicians to change motor brushes during continuous air sampling projects.  With the brushless motor blower also came the ability to electronically control the motor speed which then opened the doors for instantaneous electronic volumetric flow rate and total volume display.  These new technologies lead to HI-Q’s development of its first maintenance free High Volume Pump Air Sampler with fully automatic flow control (HVP-AFC-Series).

As a recognized industry leader in the design and manufacture of air samplers/movers, HI-Q, at the special request of their customers, has successfully integrated many independent real-time radiation detection devices for complete, turn-key, radiation detection/recording systems.  An example of this is HI-Q’s direct involvement with US EPA’s National Air and Radiation Environmental Laboratory (NAREL), to manufacture and install environmental radiological air monitoring instrumentation systems across the United States for the US EPA’s national Environmental Radiation Ambient Monitoring System (ERAMS) network.

Since September 11, 2001, HI-Q has also played a critical role in the development of air monitoring products geared toward the government’s attempt to better secure the US against acts of terrorism.  Since January of 2003, HI-Q has manufactured and deployed to government specified cities over 1500 independent, outdoor biohazard Portable air Sampling Units (PSU).  In comparative tests, EPA representatives have rated HI-Q’s PSU as the “Gold-Standard” on performance, price, and reliability.

In addition to a long list of commercial users in the Nuclear, Medical, Environmental, and Industrial Hygiene Industries, HI-Q continues to work very closely with many widely recognized U.S. National Laboratories, Specialty Agencies and Defense Branches in the design, development, and installation of complete air sampling systems.  HI-Q has and will continue to assist many independent municipality groups, such as First Responders, Emergency Response Teams and Civil Support Teams with their deployment and development of emergency response (air sampling) kits.

HI-Q is ready to help with your stack sampling requirements:

Nuclear facilities are required to follow standard protocol for sampling their effluent.  Possible emission of radionuclide to the general public has to be monitored in a systematic and acceptable manner.  The current requirements and guidelines for sampling in nuclear stacks and ducts are laid down in ANSI/HPS N13.1-1969/1999/2011/2021.   HI-Q Environmental Products Company’s product line includes complete sampling systems, consisting of multiple types of probes, transport lines, sampling pumps and flow controllers. We recommend, design and supply complete systems.  HI-Q Environmental Products Company is able to make stack-sampling systems design suggestions by receiving your sampling requirements and operating conditions.
